Sackboy is once again available on the go, and we're not talking about any sort of port for the PSP's LittleBigPlanet. The latest mobile phone title from Sony, Ultimate Sackboy, adapts the cuddly character for a runner experience, and it's now available worldwide on iOS and Android devices. The trailer above reveals what to expect.
You will run, jump, and platform to the end of levels, competing in head-to-head challenges to win prizes that you can kit your Sackboy out in. There's a Season 1 Pass up for sale, which will be replaced by a second season of content on 22nd March 2023. The first track of content includes the Astronaut costume. Initial impressions of the game seem to be mostly positive, but some reviews on the Google Play store highlight a few dodgy monetary tactics.

Would play this if it had trophies
Add trophies to get on the go and I might consider it. I haven’t seen a mobile phone game yet that has a compelling enough narrative campaign.
While I’m impressed with how good it looks for a mobile game I’d expect more than an a runner from a company like Sony that makes video games for a living. If mobile can handle those graphics it could probably handle something like LBP, left to right platforming. I suppose I’d accept this if it were Crash Bandicoot, those games kind of play like this. Sackboy deserves better. Sony should produce better.
Is this tied into Sackboy Adventure at all like that Knack mobile game let you earn items to use in Knack? Something to motivate people to play it. I’m done w/ the game but for the people who will play it when it comes to PS++.
Looks like utter trash. Media Molecule need to get their heads out of PS4 Dreams and publish a proper LBP sequel. I mean in all seriousness, what are Sony paying them for?
@sanderson72 looks OK, it's a simple mobile runner, but cute and stylish.
@sanderson72 I’d honestly like them to move on from Sackboy altogether, it just isn’t an iconic character anymore, bring back Jak or Sly which for me are way more iconic characters for the PS brand.
What was that PS Vita one called? Run Sackboy Run? I remember that being a good time waster.
Sackboy is alright but doesn’t compare to Ratchet, Sly, and Jak which are much better characters.
@AndyKazama
It was also released on iOS. I’m curious as to what’s different about this new release that warrants a new game being made.
Also, Run, Sackboy, Run, is a far better name than Ultimate Sackboy.
Am I crazy or are runner games getting slower? I feel like the character running in runner games run at a slower pace than they didn't when they got really popular back in the early 2010s. I tried the Sonic runner game a couple of months ago and it, of all things, felt so slow and empty. This looks similar to me.
intense sobbing sounds resume
Oh look run sackboy run got a sequel. Amazing there are still Temple Run clones in 2023.
It's just a fun little time waster, chill out everybody
It’s a fun little game, but I don’t see myself playing it for too long. These F2P games have too many grinds and time wasters. Upgrading gear in an auto run game feels weird to me.
Would have preferred the one time payment model and complete challenging objectives with an ending.
@IOI While I am getting rather sick of Sony's desire to remake everything rather than come up with anything new, I would happily purchase a remaster of LBP 1 and 2 IF all the online content was moved over (though I think they already did that with LBP 3 on the PS4 - the only non-dead version these days)
If they ever add this to PS4/PS5 with trophies I'd be tempted. No interest in a mobile game though.
